The times they are a changing. Bob Dylan and others have used this line to describe life as we all know it, for better and potentially for worse. Thousand Oaks has been tasked by Sacramento with the job of creating more affordable housing in our community and that affordable housing pencils out to more apartment type dwellings. Conejo Recreation and Parks has a job to do in creating an environment around these developments on Hampshire and in Newbury Road for the new residents in our city. The old K-Mart development on Hampshire has approximately 400 apartments that will bring nearly $5 million to CRPD for infrastructure projects in the vicinity of this mixed-use project. Where and how this money is spent is a task for the Board of Directors of CRPD and staff to allocate funds wisely and fairly for everyone in our community.

Acquisition of new property is probably on the agenda but this needs to be done in an intelligent and thoughtful manner taking into account what our current residents have for recreational choices in our area. Other projects that are in the planning stages in our community will present challenges going forward that will present our leadership with choices to consider all parties involved.

I pledge to represent you as your elected representative and advocate for your needs as private residential property owners. I am also a private property owner here is Newbury Park, unlike some of my opponents and am committed to retaining and increasing the value of our investment in this wonderful community. Thank you.
